Millie's Mother, Mandy

In 2013, Millie was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she at 16 months old.

We were lucky that when she was diagnosed they were opening up the Children’s Specialty Care Center in Erie around the same time, so she has been seen by CHP's Endocrinology department in Erie for over 10 years now. We feel so fortunate that we have been able to receive those services locally instead of having to take a whole day to drive to and from Pittsburgh. As far as updates...Millie is a thriving and very active 11 year old. She plays travel softball and basketball. Practicing all year round and on multiple teams. We have the ongoing support of her endocrinologist to continue our advanced insulin pumping system which helps keep her safe and healthy during her activities.
