Scholarships
Every year, we are proud to award scholarships that support employees pursuing continued education, professional growth, and specialized training.
Scholarships from Hamot Health Foundation help team members across our organization advance their skills, expand their knowledge, and grow in their careers. In turn, ongoing education strengthens our local hospital by building the expertise needed to deliver the highest level of care to our community. Advanced training is vital to what we do, and it is made possible by the generosity of those who believe in investing in our people.
Applications are accepted between February 1 and March 31, 2026. Scholarship decisions are made in April. Funds are for coursework beginning in the summer or fall of the same year.
Scholarships
Hamot Health Foundation Scholarships, UPMC Hamot Aid Society Nursing Scholarship Fund, and Private Donor Scholarships
These scholarships were established to provide financial support to UPMC Hamot employees who are beginning or completing education leading to nursing licensure or advanced nursing degrees, as well as degrees, licensures, or certifications in other health care–related fields. Scholarships are administered by Hamot Health Foundation and are intended to support educational advancement; they are not available for conference expenses.
Eligibility — Applicants must be employed within UPMC Hamot and enrolled in a program leading to nursing licensure or advanced nursing degrees, as well as degrees or licensures in other health care–related fields
Awards — Funding will be paid directly to the academic institution. If the “balance due” on the tuition bill is less than the amount awarded, the award will be reduced to the “balance due.” Scholarship awards may be taxable.
Selection — Criteria for selection includes financial need, current progress in a nursing program, and professional contributions, goals, and achievements. Selection of the recipients will be made after review of the applications received. Additional information may be requested, and interviews may be conducted to determine the recipients.
*PLEASE NOTE, ALL SCHOLARSHIPS ARE PAID DIRECTLY TO THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION AND NOT TO THE EMPLOYEE. YOU MUST SUBMIT YOUR TUITION BILL TO HAMOT HEALTH FOUNDATION WITH AN OUTSTANDING BALANCE EQUAL OR GREATER TO THE AMOUNT OF YOUR SCHOLARSHIP PRIOR TO SEPTEMBER 30.
