United Charities Backpack Drive

United Charities is the internal charity at UPMC Hamot that helps employees with anything from providing basic needs for their families to responding to emergency situations.

Each fall, United Charities holds a backpack raffle for any employees who need help providing a backpack and school supplies for their child. The raffle is limited to one per family, and most years we are able to provide backpacks to everyone who enters.

This year, we are happy to announce that the United Charities committee gave away 91 backpacks with basic school supplies like pencils, pens, folders, notebooks, crayons, markers, glue sticks, scissors, etc. We are proud to know that 91 students were able to put their best foot forward as school started this year! Thank you to all who donated and helped assemble the backpacks.
