Parkinson Partners of Northwestern Pennsylvania
Hamot Health Foundation is pleased to support Parkinson Partners of Northwestern Pennsylvania, an Erie-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and their families with support, education, programs, services, and referrals.
Parkinson Partners was founded locally and is the only nonprofit in our area whose mission is solely focused on the PD community.
A vigorous organization, Parkinson Partners offers multiple services and activities in support of its mission. These include multiple support groups, wellness sessions, dance classes, social events, and various fundraisers.
Parkinson Partners also enjoys a unique relationship with Gannon University’s occupational and physical therapy programs. Students in the programs routinely volunteer with Parkinson Partners wellness classes and may also participate in fundraisers. At the organization’s Rock ‘n Country Dance fundraiser, students provided assistance to those with PD to make navigating a social event more manageable, such as supporting and encouraging participation on the dance floor.
In 2019, Executive Director Lynne Gotham and Board President David LeVan were invited to the World Parkinson’s Congress in Japan, where they presented on the success of Parkinson Partners’ respite care program. This program translates as the gift of time to caregivers, enabling them to responsibly walk away and refresh their own spirits.
The Parkinson’s Care Fund at Hamot Health Foundation supports staffing and selected program offerings at Parkinson Partners, including the respite care program. Lynne Gotham expresses the positive impact on local lives as a result of HHF’s backing. “The support of HHF enables us to provide needed services, education, Parkinson’s-specific wellness classes, and support for those with PD and their families, reminding them that they are not alone.”
All donations received for the Parkinson’s Care Fund stay right here in Erie to support local needs — your family, friends, and neighbors who live and cope with PD on a daily basis.
