Light Up Life

UPMC Hamot’s new Kidney Transplant Program is gearing up for National Donate Life Month this April, and we’re pretty excited that Erie’s Bicentennial Tower will be joining the celebration.

On Tuesday, April 18, UPMC Hamot’s transplant team will host an informational meeting about living donation and UPMC Hamot's Kidney Transplant Program at the Bayfront Convention Center at 6:30 p.m.

Immediately following, Hamot Health Foundation will treat guests to light refreshments and a brief ceremony in which we will light Erie’s Bicentennial Tower blue and green — the official colors of Donate Life Month.

Gifts made in honor or remembrance of loved ones will be recognized at this tower lighting ceremony. All proceeds will benefit the Ryan’s Choice Fund, which was created last year in honor of a UPMC Hamot employee who selflessly gave one of his kidneys to his neighbor.

This fund is used to create awareness of living donation as well as to support other donor and recipient patients and families going through the process of transplantation.
