John Monocello Mission Trip
Last month, a team from UPMC Hamot took a trip to Mexico to lend their medical expertise to impoverished areas where residents either could not afford or could not get access to the care they needed.
The team saw approximately 70 patients for surgery, injections, splints, and therapy.
The Hamot Health Foundation was proud to help sponsor this event through an orthopaedic fund that was developed in memory of John Monocello, a valued colleague and administrator of the orthopaedic program at UPMC Hamot for many years.
Stephanie Russo, a graduate medical resident at UPMC Hamot who was on the trip, said, “I think each of us gained new perspectives on life, better appreciation for the work that our colleagues do every day, and renewed passions for the medical field.”
