Joeybands for Newborns

Hamot Health Foundation purchased 100 reusable Joeybands for the UPMC Hamot Mother/Baby Unit this month in order to increase safe skin-to-skin time between moms and their newborns.

The unique four-way elastic band holds a baby in the proper skin-to-skin position while removing the risk of slipping or falling. By offering Joeybands to all new moms during the entirety of their hospital stay, we will be able to increase critical skin-to-skin contact, which improves long-term outcomes related to bonding, breastfeeding, and post-partum depression. We are excited to begin taking advantage of this simple tool that will result in happier moms and babies!
