Hamot Health Foundation Supports Community Blood Bank and Local Businesses

Local blood supplies experience critical levels.

UPMC Hamot recently partnered with the Community Blood Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York to hold a blood drive at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital–UPMC Hamot Campus.

The community blood supply is always a matter of urgency, but perhaps never more so than during a pandemic. Blood drives typically sponsored by organizations are cancelled, and individual donors are staying home. Under these rare circumstances, blood donations decline dramatically.

In an effort to support both the blood bank and local business owners, Hamot Health Foundation stepped in to incentivize participation. The first 100 donors were rewarded with a $25 gift card to a local establishment. A record-breaking 146 donors responded to a successful blood draw event!
