Right on Schedule: Expanding Wayne Campus

Posted Thursday, May 07, 2026

Construction is underway at the Wayne campus, marking an exciting new chapter for career development and community investment on Erie’s east side. Led by BUILD CDC, this expansion brings the former Wayne Park Baptist Church and annex fully into the growing Wayne footprint. The result is a more unified, welcoming campus designed to better serve students, staff, and the surrounding neighborhood.

Work began with a focus on connection and access. Early progress included removing the tree line and chain‑link fence that once separated the properties, followed by extensive site preparation for a newly expanded parking lot. These visible first steps reflect what BUILD and HHF do best: turning vision into action and moving projects forward with purpose.

In the coming months, interior and exterior renovations will begin, with completion expected later this year. Once finished, the expanded campus will feature two state-of-the-art medical simulation laboratories, a new classroom, and dedicated office space for the School of Nursing’s admissions and financial aid team—resources that directly support students as they move from raw ambition to realized achievement.

This expansion is fueled by continued growth at both the Erie Center for Arts & Technology (ECAT) and the School of Nursing, reflecting the campus's vital role in the Erie community.

The expansion, which was once merely a potential on paper, is now becoming a tangible asset that will advance workforce development, education, and economic mobility for years to come.

This project represents the power of aligned partners, donor investment, and a shared commitment to getting meaningful work done for this community. With progress and momentum in full swing, the expanded Wayne campus is steadily taking shape, laying the groundwork for future opportunity.
