Medical Assistant Training

Upperclassmen in the Medical Assistant program at Erie High School spent the day with UPMC Hamot employees earlier this month thanks to a gift from the Next Generation Fund at Hamot Health Foundation.

These 20 students received hands-on training in Stop the Bleed, Health Care Provider CPR, and EpicCare (UPMC Hamot’s outpatient electronic health record). The training went even better than expected, and all of the students are now CPR certified and more equipped to handle emergency situations.

Through this field trip, we hope that we have given these students the real-life experience they need to build confidence in their daily lives and future careers.
