Our Mission
Hamot Health Foundation will lead our community to better health
Our Vision
Hamot Health Foundation will transform the health and well-being of our community with an unwavering commitment to our 4 C's:
Clinical Excellence

UPMC Hamot is a 487-bed hospital offering a full complement of inpatient and outpatient services. Led by a 722-member medical staff and nearly 3,630 dedicated employees, UPMC Hamot’s mission is to serve its patients in the tradition of exceptional health, healing, and education. Centers of excellence at UPMC Hamot have been created through a partnership between providers and stakeholders whose shared vision is to elevate care within a given specialty to its highest possible level. Breast health, bariatric surgery, comprehensive stroke, robotic bronchoscopy, and neurointerventional surgery are a few UPMC Hamot specialties earning accreditations by outside agencies. Centers of excellence in which our benefactors have played principal roles include the John E. Britton Family Trauma Center and the Leslie Cardiac Diagnostic Center. UPMC Hamot relies on the power of philanthropy to establish excellence while affording donors an opportunity to advance the causes most important to their legacies.
Community Health

Hamot Health Foundation’s community health commitment permeates the very core of our neighbors needs, improving the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of all those in our community. From health screenings and prevention programs to game-changing initiatives addressing social determinants such as employment, housing, education, and counseling, Hamot Health Foundation is committed to addressing the most pressing needs of our entire community. Supporters of this commitment share in the satisfaction of providing meaningful opportunities to improve lives and empower our neighbors.
Cutting-Edge Research

The expansion of the Magee-Womens Research Institute (MWRI) to Erie underscores the remarkable growth of medical research at UPMC Hamot. Research creates access to advanced clinical capabilities in our community, attracts highly skilled medical talent, creates health care and academic partnerships, and bolsters the local economy.
Philanthropy drives research at UPMC Hamot. In addition to MWRI Erie, Hamot Health Foundation invests in research projects that benefit patients, clinicians, and residents, ensuring UPMC Hamot continues to play a pioneering role in health care.
Career Development

Advanced education for employees results in significantly better outcomes for patients. Hamot Health Foundation is committed to funding scholarships for UPMC Hamot team members seeking to further their knowledge and careers. Each year, the Foundation awards hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships supporting employees pursuing advanced degrees, certifications, and training opportunities in all areas of health care. At the same time, the Foundation continually cultivates new health care talent and creates outstanding opportunities in medical careers for area youth by supporting numerous training programs and workshops throughout the region. Hamot Health Foundation recently led the development of the UPMC Jameson School of Nursing at UPMC Hamot, investing in brand new facilities and scholarship support for students. This is part of our commitment to help address vital staffing needs for UPMC Hamot and transform the lives of local students.
